Why Do Some People Prefer a Female Divorce Lawyer?

We have found that when a client specifically wants to be represented by a female attorney, it is usually because they are more comfortable communicating the profoundly personal issues related to a dissolution of marriage with a female or they are looking for a women’s divorce advocate through the mutual understanding the two share. This can be particularly true when domestic violence occurs during the marriage.

In either case, our team can help. Contact our office to schedule a consultation.

What are Some of the Personal Issues that Need to Be Resolved in Divorce?

While Arizona is considered a no-fault divorce state, the issues are still personal. For example, in a dissolution of marriage, the parties will need to divide the community property (commonly referred to as marital property)—including assets and debts—and determine if spousal support is appropriate. These issues can be more personal than people think, and some are embarrassed when discussing them.

In divorce proceedings, parenting time and legal decision-making (commonly referred to as child custody) will also need to be decided if the parties have minor children. That means getting a parenting plan that states when each parent will have parenting time, who gets allocated what holidays in which years, how the major decisions will be made for the children, and the appropriate award of child support.

What Makes a Good Divorce and Family Law Attorney?

Communication is the top priority when choosing an attorney for family law matters and at the center of a strong attorney-client relationship. You need to feel comfortable when communicating with your attorney.

The Female Divorce Attorneys in Our Office are Excellent—But That Does Not Mean They Will Always Tell You What You Want to Hear

Yes, we believe the attorneys in our office are excellent but that does not mean they are always going to tell you what you want to hear. A good attorney in a divorce case is not a cheerleader that blindly pushes you forward. That increases your legal fees, potentially opens you up to legal exposure, and doesn’t appropriately set expectations—leaving no one happy.

Quality legal representation is like that best friend who bluntly tells you their analysis of the situation. Our office provides our clients with straightforward legal advice, weighing the pros and cons, and considering the variables and potential exposure, so our clients can make informed decisions about their own lives during the divorce process.
